I Wake to the Calling
of the Green Basement
Jan 18 to Feb 24 2007
At the exhibition
'I Wake to the Calling of the Green Basement' Frank Bruggeman
presents his personal universe consisting of furniture objects,
nature, photography, computer drawings and casestudies. Interior
and exterior leave behind consumer society. Poverty, riches,
fashionability or out of time, it doesn't matter anymore. Space
and mentality is what it's all about. The exhibition offers an
invitation to intensify the view on one's own surroundings as
an along side result.
The shown furniture collection is typically
Bruggeman, recognizeable to a specific (cyan) blue color. This
logically used color diminishes the mutual hierarchy. Indifferenceness
is converted into valueability. Archetypical shapes like the
piled up cubes take shape in reflecting perspex and by that refer
to architecture.
Bruggeman visualizes his fascination for vegetation
in urban surroundings, taken to shape in provisional gardens.
These container gardens worm with desire and ideals, due to urban
restrictions. Regional nature is a continuous element. Exotic
plants represent personal landmarks, as reminders to once visited
resorts.
